Events of My Life for the past decade... (stolen from [info]slyfoxesq)

2000: Got my very first job. Competed in the Paralympic Games in Sydney (a goal I set from myself at 4) swam my way to a 4th place finish, and finalled in 4 events :)

2001: Got my first car. Graduated from high school. Got my eye brow pierced. Went to Italy (my very first international trip where I wasn't there to swim!)

2002: Went on a grand tour of New Zealand, and fell deeply in love with it!

2003: Order of the Phoenix came out, making it my very first midnight release, and the first time I dressed up in Hogwarts gear! I was Hermione (lol). Read my very first fanfic (Snape/Hermione, since apparently I just jump right in! lol) My dog, Max died that year. :(

2004: Moved to Orlando, FL and interned at Disney World. Very first time living out of Cali & away from family. The best summer of my life so far! Got my first (and only so far) tattoo.

2005: My first real romantic relationship! A new dog, Rex :)

2006: Um. I don't think anything "big" happened this year... I can't remember.

2007: My first HP Con (Prophecy!), and my big intro into fandom. I was mainly a lurker before that! haha. Subsequently my first trip to Canada! Bought my first iPhone (and became hopelessly addicted). Met JK ROWLING! She told me I was cool. NO REALLY, SHE DID.

2008: My heart was broken for the first time. Met internet friends IRL for the first time (and had a ridiculously awesome time!! xD) My very first cruise, and trip to New Orleans (MUST RETURN SOON!!).

2009: Pierced my nose! Visited Phoenix, North & South Carolina, Georgia, and went to 3 HP Cons/events that required travel. Got my first Disneyland Annual Passport. MET ADAM LAMBERT (Ok, met is a stretch... he smiled at me and scribbled on the Rolling Stone cover something vaguely resembling his name :D)

On December 23, 2009, famed movie critic Roger Ebert answered a question about "The Last Airbender" in his weekly Q&A column:

Q: Regarding the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan vehicle "The Last Airbender," what do you think about the whitewashing of the production so that all of the original Asian cultural landmarks, architecture, philosophy, and costume design are being retained while they cast white kids to play the main characters?

A: Wrong. The original series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" was highly regarded and popular for three seasons on Nickelodeon. Its fans take it for granted that its heroes are Asian. Why would Paramount and Shyamalan go out of their way to offend these fans? There are many young Asian actors capable of playing the parts.

If you be my star, I'll be your sky
You can hide underneath me and come out at night
When I turn jet black and you show off your light
I live to let you shine
I live to let you shine

But you can skyrocket away from me
And never come back if you find another galaxy
Far from here with more room to fly
Just leave me your stardust to remember you by♥

What did you read this week?
The next chapter of Ouran! That was a " hot damn" moment. A book on otaku, and some fan fiction. Oh and Black Lagoon a little, the manga. I reviewed the anime, link here: www.youtube.com/watch
And I reviewed New Moon, finally! www.youtube.com/watch

I did a couple drabbles for Urzai Week way back at the end of October, but for purely lame reasons (aka forgetfulness, editing procrastination, and shyness) only got around to posting them now. Enjoy.:)

Title: Point of No Return
Rating: PG (for vague discussion of death?)
Characters/Pairings: Ursa/Ozai (mentions of Zuko, Aang)
Word Count: 730
Prompt: I know that home is the one place you won't come
Summary: Ursa has never been able to return, even years after the war has ended.
Notes: Some interesting ideas in this one that have got me thinking about certain finale events a little differently…

She stands at Ba Sing Se station.

Title: Murder
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: Ursa/Ozai
Word Count: 457
Prompt: Knowledge is second sons seeking the slaughter/And princesses playing their parts
Summary: Ozai’s willingness to kill shocks even himself.
Notes: I was actually surprised by the outcome of this myself. Sometimes characters just seem to take on a life of their own, you know? (Although I do believe this scenario is completely possible.)

Ozai knew he was slipping.

So, I was catching up on Sparknotes' awesome "Blogging the Twilight Series" by the hilarious Dan, who is growing more and more anti-Twilight and points out snarkily all the bad things (the crappy writing, abusive tendencies, a count of how many times 'murmur' is used, etc.)  as he goes on.

I looked at the ending and went, "...GAAH".

Merry Christmas, Sparklers! We got you this complete list of Dan's Twilight posts. Hope you like it!

I know it's referring to Sparknotes readers, but this is slightly terrifying at the end of a long anti-Twilight rant.

The blog post in question is here.

Oops~

So with Sas' announcement that points don't have to be in on the last day of the month, we're extending the Sugarquill deadline to Sunday, January 3 at 9:00 PST (GMT-8).

You're free to submit whenever you like, but only fics and artwork submitted before this time will earn your house points this term.

Please make you sure y'all save these & upload them to your own server. Thanks!

Due to the Sorting Caretaker being away on family business for this week, the Last Call applications will be officially stamped on Sunday, January 3, 2009 @ 9pm CST (10pm EST).

Apologies to those for whom this causes issues. Stick pokes to those of you who have not yet sorted your last! =P
